A bit of history ...
Do you know the man behind the construction of the “RIZAL MEMORIAL SPORTS COMPLEX” in the year 1941 was Antonio de Las Alas. Many years after, his daughters Ching de las Alas Montinola & Menchu de las Alas Concepcion voiced their opposition to then Mayor Joseph Estrada’s plan to convert the sprawling facility into another commercial center. Both daughters said, “ it would be better for the city government to preserve the complex and continue using it for sports events “. In April 2017 Rizal Memorial Coliseum was declared a National Historical Landmark ensuring the sites preservation.
