IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT

We all agree to run a good race regardless if it’s a 5k, 10k , ½ marathon or a full 41.195km marathon you need to rack in the mileage to develop the stamina.
But what about your body weight ? What is the “IDEAL” body weight for a runner.
That brings us to my question,
“ WHAT IS THE PERFECT RUNNING WEIGHT”.During the 70’s the Ideal running weight FORMULAS is as follows:MEN
· Height in inches x 2 = IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT.
· Example:
· If you are 5’5ft = 65 inches
· 65 inches x 2 = 130lbs.
· IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT FOR A 5’5 ft. MAN IS 130LBS.
WOMEN
· Height in inches x 2 – 20 = IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT.
· Example :
· If you are 5ft. = 60 inches.
· 60 inches x 2 = 120 lbs.
· 120 lbs. – 20 = 100 lbs.
· IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT FOR A 5ft. WOMAN IS 100 LBS.
While for the year 2000 there is no ideal running weight but they only recommend that you have a Normal BMI ( Body Mass Index )
· FORMULA TO CALCULATE FOR YOUR BMI.

Table: Imperial BMI Formula
BMI =( kg/m² )
(weight in pounds * 703 )

height in inches²
Table: BMI Weight Status Categories
BMI
Weight Status
Below 18.5 ----Underweight
18.5 -24.9 -----Normal
25 - 29.9 ------Overweight
30 & Above ---Obese

Giving the 2 formula’s above. My question to you are the FF.
1. WHAT IS YOUR IDEAL RUNNING WEIGHT ?
2. DO YOU MEASURE UP ?
3. OR DO YOU NEED TO GO ON A DIET ?
